Should High School students be segregated to better education?

we already have this. its called AP, college prep, and basic classes. the only difference is all these classes are held in one building. in theory your idea sounds ok but really you are shielding these kids from other people different from them. they won't know how to interact with people who aren't as smart. also it will open up a huge racial debate since most low performing students are minorities (not being racist, stating facts)
