Getting rid of vista anti-virus 2012 virus?

I finally managed to get malwarebytes to open on my computer and it detected multiple infections which it removed. Can I assume this virus is gone now or might it come back? A lot of the fixes online include going into the registry and I don't want to do that since I don't understand it well and don't want to mess things up. Will malwarebytes have deleted it adequately?
